A Natural, Neutral & Sunny Duplex Penthouse in Barcelona — House Tour

Name: Fabiola, Javier, Claudia (5) and Guillermo (2)
Location: Barcelona, Spain
Size: 1,720 square feet
Years lived in: 1.5 years, owned

When Javi and Fabi first saw this space on the top floor of a beautiful duplex in the family-friendly neighborhood of Eixample, it was completely different. All of the fixtures were outdated and the layout needed to be reconfigured. Undeterred, they saw the potential of the space and decided to do a complete overhaul.

As the proud parents of two young kids, their main concern when redesigning the layout was making sure that each space served a practical function…and that they had plenty of storage. Working closely with talented architect, Abel Perez, and his interior design team, they were able to achieve all of their needs while creating an elegant aesthetic they both desired.

A Young Family's Cozy, Small Seattle Craftsman — House Tour

Name: Anna, Jason and Freddy
Location: Ballard — Seattle, Washington
Size: 600 square feet
Years lived in: 5 years, owned

After buying their Seattle home five years ago, Anna and Jason spent about two years updating elements that likely hadn’t changed in decades — all new windows, refurbished kitchen counters, new paint throughout — and the list goes on. Then when they knew their little guy Freddy was on the way, another transformation of sorts had to happen: Making room for a new baby in a one-bedroom, 600-square foot house. Anna was inspired by a house tour she’d seen on Apartment Therapy that made living in a small space with a baby look not only doable, but stylish and beautiful.

We love to share inspiration and ideas, neat items we’ve stumbled upon as well as a new purchase.”

An Airbnb Content Manager's Chic San Francisco Studio — House Tour

Name: Holly
Location: The Mission — San Francisco, California
Size: 650 square feet
Years lived in: 3 years, renting

The first thing you notice when you open the door to Holly’s apartment in San Francisco’s popular Mission neighborhood is the light in the hallway that runs two-thirds of the length of the space. Windows all along the right side — some stained glass — make it feel very airy and ethereal. And the style with which she chooses to adorn the walls — delicate, simple, and thoughtful — spills into the whole apartment. Overall, her place gives off a bit of a Parisian vibe, which is ironic, since when I mentioned my impression, Holly said she’s never actually been to Paris. Though as a Content Manager at Airbnb, she’s likely seen a lot of the style that goes into Parisian homes as she goes about her daily work.

“I’ve lived in Raleigh for four years and this is the first place that truly feels 100% me,” confesses graphic designer Stephanie Whedbee. “Since moving in last fall, I have obsessed over styling and decorating my duplex. By day I am a graphic designer at a tech company, but in my spare time I devote my personal creativity to my house — it fulfills that other part of my design spirit to turn away from the screen and get my hands on DIY projects, searching Craigslist for unique pieces, and combing through Pinterest — all while consulting with my mom. After years of bouncing from place to place, there’s nothing better than coming home to an actual home after a long day to a space that feels so welcoming and comfortable.”
