A Light & Bright Eclectic Modern Philadelphia Row Home — House Tour

Name: Chaney Widmer her husband Charlie
Location: Fairmount — Philadelphia, Pennsylvania
Size: 1200 square feet
Years lived in: 2 years, owned

When Chaney and her husband Charlie bought their house in the Fairmount neighborhood of Philadelphia in the fall of 2015, she saw the house as a chance to experiment and flex her creative muscles. It was in need of some major updating, but she saw the potential right away. They ended up getting a great deal on it, and then spent 30 days putting in all new hardwood flooring, painting just about every surface, replacing light fixtures, and fixing a bunch of little things before they moved in. About nine months after that, they did a full kitchen renovation as well.

13 Weaving Projects to Welcome Colder Temps

Though there are few things more perfect than a sunny summer beach day, we’ve long been ready for the cooler (read: less sweaty) weather. Right now, we’re in the middle of changing over our wardrobes, our decor, and even the craft projects on our want-to-try lists in anticipation of the coming winter. The one technique that’s been topping that list has been weaving, which has surprisingly risen in popularity. While we have seen handcrafted textiles and macrame wall hangings trend in the decor realm, the appeal of woven textures in the fall and winter is obvious — it’s all about getting cozy.

Whether you’re new to looms or are an experienced weaver looking for new projects (like these fringed pillows from A Beautiful Mess), here are just a few crafty ideas that will bring comfy-cozy texture into your home.

The Best Place to Buy KALLAX Storage Cubes Isn't IKEA

IKEA’s KALLAX line is a storage staple, relied upon for organizing kids’ toys, craft supplies, paperwork, socks and unmentionables, hats and gloves, and so much more in an attractive fashion. Here's Where To Find Those Sage-Green Pumpkins You're Seeing All Over Pinterest

Right around two or three weeks ago, your Instagram feed probably started blowing up with pumpkin patch shots. I can’t exactly point fingers—I posted a little cluster of minis I saw at a restaurant myself. I’m cringing a little bit now just thinking about it. But I digress. If you start exploring all those hashtags and look past the #basic images, you’ll start to notice that green pumpkins are EVERYWHERE this year—popping up while you’re pinning recipes, on lifestyle blogs, in magazines. The Blue & Pink Home of Australian Artist Jenny McCown — House Tour

Name: Jenny McCown
Location: Brisbane, Australia
Years lived in: 20 Months

Some years ago I first met artist Jenny McCown when I photographed her home in East Brisbane — a five-bedroom Queenslander with a bright pink door. She has since moved into a more modern (and smaller) two-bedroom apartment on Brisbane River. It is in an enviable location, with a view off her balcony across Jacaranda trees with the river just beyond. But what I love most is that it is still such a true projection of her style and taste.

4 Things No One Warned Me About Before I Adopted a Dog

“Are you going to take it on walks? Are you going to have time for it? Can you afford it?” There were a lot of things my friends warned me about before I adopted the painfully adorable dog above (my mom also shared many of her concerns). But even with my friends’ advice and nearly a decade of pet sitting experience under my belt, I was surprised by a few unexpected things after bringing Stanley home from the LA-SPCA.
