IKEA Outdoor Furniture You Can (And Should) Use Inside

There’s nothing wrong with using outdoor furniture indoors. In many ways, it’s actually a smart move. Pieces created with outside use in mind are typically built to withstand things like wind, moisture and extreme temperatures. So if you have kids or pets, these items should be better suited to hold up to wear-and-tear. Some outdoor items have gotten a bad rap in the past for being not so stylish or crafted from less-than-cozy materials, which made them unfit for inside the home. But I’d say the market has come a long way in the last couple of years. Designs are chicer, and fabrics and fibers are more comfortable than ever.

Most outdoor furniture and furnishings collections drop early spring (unless you live in a year-round warm climate), so you’re not going to find a ton of inventory in stores now. But never fear: IKEA to the rescue! Everyone’s fave Swedish furniture emporium always stocks outdoor specific items that can be utilized indoors. To that point, here are 10, available-now pieces that get their decor jobs done well—and look good doing them—whether indoors or out.

Our Favorite Finds From H&M's Fall Home Collection

The “Fall Luxe” collection just dropped at H&M Home, and all I have to say is watch your paychecks, people! Or, on second thought, don’t worry about it. While the official theme of the line is “romantic opulence,” and the pieces certainly look high-end, the price tags are still fast-fashion.

I found H&M’s pillow game to be especially strong this time around, as well as their decorative accessories and serveware offerings. I certainly don’t need a thing, but here’s what I’d buy if I were hoarding home goods like it was my job.

6 Style Lessons I Learned from the Fall Anthropologie Home Catalog

Somewhere along the lines of decorating my first real apartment, I started fangirling pretty hard for Anthropologie—stalking their in-store home sale section on the reg and bemoaning the $149 flat-rate fee of furniture delivery, which they plaster all over the place as if it’s a good deal. Maybe if you’re in the business of buying $5,000 beds. But that fee has stopped me from pulling the trigger on so many sale tables, lamps, and chairs over the years just on principle. Shipping should never be half the price of a stool, Anthro!

All that aside, I swear I’m just like Billy Madison on “Nudie Magazine Day” when the Anthro Home catalog drops each season. It’s just so well-done and visually inspiring. Plus, I feel like the pages actually offer tips and trend information—not just house porn. So I got my hands on an advance copy and thought I’d bring you the cliffs notes version here, so you know what the new-new is before it’s officially fall.

Celestial Decor That Will Make Your Home Feel Out of This World

During my high school years in Ohio, it never truly felt like summer until my friends and I celebrated the season with out first stargazing party. About 20 of us would make the drive from the city to our friend’s house in the country. Out there the houses were separated by large swaths of land and there were few street lights, so the stars shone so bright it almost felt like daytime.

We’d lay out a huge collage of blankets next to the bonfire and just stare at the night sky talking about our futures and eating one too many s’mores. Ever since, I’ve had a soft spot in my heart for anything celestial.

Of course, you don’t need a nostalgic reason to love the moon, sun, and stars, or to decorate your home with them. There’s just something magical about the sky, and luckily for all of us moon babies, there are some seriously stylish celestial items available at our favorite stores.
